DINNER MEETING

A Look at CFPA, Overdraft Privilege and Systemic Risk
Fred Becker, President/CEO, NAFCU

Please join us on February 8 when Fred Becker will address current hot topics, including the Consumer Financial Protection Agency (CFPA), Overdraft Privilege and Systemic Risk. Be sure to bring your questions for Mr. Becker.

Fred R. Becker, Jr. joined NAFCU as president and CEO in January 2000, and he has worked relentlessly since then to champion credit union issues with federal regulatory agencies, The White House and Congress. He has also dramatically increased NAFCU’s direct contact with its membership and outreach to the national media.

Under Becker’s leadership, NAFCU has forged a strong working relationship with NCUA to address such key issues as community chartering, field of membership and promotion of the credit union share insurance fund.

NAFCU’s efforts have led to heightened awareness of credit union issues on Capitol Hill. Most recently, NAFCU lobbied, in concert with NCUA, to secure parity for credit unions in the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act. NAFCU and NCUA also collaborated to secure the removal of the existing cap on the lending authority of the Central Liquidity Facility. In addition, Becker spearheaded NAFCU’s efforts on the Regulatory Relief Act of 2006. NAFCU has actively lobbied since 2003 to revise limits on member business lending and reform credit union capital standards. NAFCU has backed the Credit Union Regulatory Improvements Act and to date has helped CURIA garner 150 co-sponsors in the House.
