Meeting Date: July 26, 2010Lunch Meeting, Key Bridge MarriottViable Business Models in the New Regulatory Environment Stan Hollen, President / CEO, CO-OP Financial Services Interviewed by Sarah Snell Cooke, Editor-in-Chief, Credit Union Times Please join us for the July luncheon as Stan Hollen, President and CEO of CO-OP Financial Services, responds to the questions below from Sarah Snell Cooke: • Is the current credit union business model sustainable? • What needs to be changed and what needs to be kept intact? • Credit unions have relied significantly upon fees and, as we’re seeing with interchange and overdrafts, that’s going to have to change. How do credit unions replace that income? • Are greater operational efficiencies possible? What general areas can use some trimming? • Are credit unions as collaborative as they claim to be? What is the role of CUSOs in all this? If credit unions won’t collaborate, what is their fate and that of CUSOs? • The corporate credit unions will likely be a much smaller force when all’s said and done; will CUSOs make up some of the difference? In what areas? Stan Hollen has dedicated his entire professional career to the credit union movement. He has served as President / CEO of both The Golden 1 Credit Union and Liberty Enterprises. In June 2005, he assumed the position of President / CEO with CO-OP Financial Services. He has served on numerous credit union boards and committees and has received multiple awards and honors, including the California Credit Union League’s Leo H. Shapiro Lifetime Achievement Award.
